How It Works

Get started in minutes with our streamlined onboarding process.

1

Request Access

Fill out a brief form with your company details and Oracle instance URL. Our team will review your request and send you a secure magic link to begin setup.

2

Generate Certificate

Use our setup wizard to generate security credentials. Download the certificate file for upload to Oracle. We guide you through each step.

3

Configure Oracle Security

Upload the certificate to Oracle Security Console and register erpUX as a trusted application. Our wizard provides step-by-step instructions with screenshots.

4

Test Connection

Enter your Oracle instance hostname and test the connection. Once successful, your instance is automatically saved and you can proceed.

5

Optional: Configure BI Publisher

For advanced features like KPI dashboards and report deployment, optionally configure BI Publisher credentials. Store them securely in our OCI Vault or your own vault.

6

Embed in Oracle

Add erpUX to your Oracle navigation using Page Integration with Secure Destination. Users access it directly from Oracle - no separate login required.

7

Start Using

Users click the erpUX link in Oracle and are automatically authenticated. Reports and dashboards are ready immediately. Manage settings anytime via the Admin Portal.

Credential Security

BI Publisher credentials are optional and stored in OCI Vault with AES-256 encryption. You can use your own vault or configure them later. End-users never need admin credentials - they authenticate via Oracle JWT.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about erpUX security, authentication, and data access.

How does erpUX authenticate with Oracle?

erpUX uses a secure two-way JWT (JSON Web Token) authentication. When you access erpUX from Oracle, Oracle sends a signed JWT that identifies you. erpUX then creates its own JWT to call Oracle APIs on your behalf. Both tokens are cryptographically signed and verified - no passwords are ever stored or transmitted.

Can erpUX access more data than I can see in Oracle?

No, absolutely not. When erpUX calls Oracle APIs, it does so as YOUR user. Oracle enforces all your security policies - role-based access, data security, business unit restrictions - everything. erpUX cannot give you access to anything you couldn't already see if you logged into Oracle directly.

What data does erpUX store?

erpUX stores minimal data: your company configuration, the security certificate for authentication, and user preferences (like favorites). We never store your transactional data - every report query goes directly to Oracle in real-time and results are not cached.

Why are BI Publisher credentials needed for some features?

Some advanced features like KPI dashboards, job monitoring, and custom report deployment require deploying data models to Oracle BI Publisher. This deployment process uses Oracle's SOAP API which requires admin credentials. Once deployed, end-users access reports using their own JWT authentication - they never need admin credentials.

How are BI Publisher credentials stored securely?

You have three options: (1) Store in our managed OCI Vault - credentials are encrypted using AES-256 and stored in Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Vault, (2) Store in your own OCI Vault - you maintain full control and grant us read-only access, (3) Configure later - skip BIP features during setup and add credentials via the Admin Portal when ready.

What is OCI Vault and is it secure?

OCI Vault is Oracle Cloud Infrastructure's hardware security module (HSM) backed secret management service. Secrets are encrypted at rest using AES-256, access is controlled via IAM policies, and all access is fully audited. OCI Vault is SOC 2 Type 2 and ISO 27001 certified.

Can I use my own vault for credential storage?

Yes! If your security policy requires it, you can store BI Publisher credentials in your own OCI Vault and grant erpUX read-only access to the specific secret. This way credentials never leave your infrastructure. Configure this option in the Admin Portal.

What is the Admin Portal?

The Admin Portal is where you manage your erpUX configuration after initial setup. Access it via a secure magic link. From there you can manage instances, update BI Publisher credentials, configure user roles, and access support. Users with the XXERPUX_ADMIN role in Oracle can access admin features.

How does the Oracle data security work with erpUX?

Oracle's data security is always enforced. If your Oracle profile only allows access to 'US Operations' business unit, that's all you'll see in erpUX. If you can only view AP data but not GL, erpUX respects that. Oracle is always the source of truth for permissions.

What happens if my Oracle session expires?

JWT tokens are valid for 30 minutes (Oracle's limit). When your session approaches expiration, erpUX automatically refreshes the token in the background. If you're inactive for too long, you'll be prompted to reconnect - this is a security feature.

Can I use erpUX with multiple Oracle instances?

Yes! erpUX supports multiple Oracle instances (dev, test, prod) from a single company setup. Each instance can have its own BI Publisher credentials and configuration. Switch between instances seamlessly from the dashboard.

Is erpUX SOC 2 compliant?

We follow security best practices including encryption at rest and in transit, no storage of sensitive data, and full audit logging. Credentials stored in OCI Vault inherit Oracle's SOC 2 Type 2 and ISO 27001 certifications. Since all your data stays in Oracle, your existing Oracle compliance certifications apply to your data.

How is erpUX embedded in Oracle Fusion?

erpUX integrates via Oracle's Page Integration feature with Secure Destination enabled. This means Oracle handles the authentication and passes a secure token to erpUX. Users access erpUX directly from their Oracle navigation menu - no separate login required.
